Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood is one of the city’s most popular. The neighborhood takes its name from the lake that is the focal point of the community and is a popular spot for hanging out with friends, enjoying an espresso in one of the many local coffee houses, or stopping off for lunch or enjoying dinner in one of the areas many restaurants. The lake also offers a variety of water sports including swimming, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. And the park surrounding the lake features expansive green lawns, play fields and a 2.8-mile walking path around the lake. Just about any day of the year you will seen numerous people walking, jogging and bicycling. Green Lake also is surrounded by a variety of cafes, bar and grills, coffee houses, and numerous shops catering to local residents as well as visitors from all over the city and out-of-towners. Many similar shops also are found on the side streets a block or two away from the lake. The Green Lake neighborhood is fairly close to downtown and offers attractive housing options including single-family homes as well as modern apartments and condominiums.
