The Seattle Kraken Practice Facility is the newest dominate feature in North Seattle, besides the new Light Rail Station. The practice facility will bring with it more restaurants and entertainment that are already located in the North Seattle.
Northgate Station (formerly Northgate Mall) is being re-envisioned, with open pavilions, more local shops and restaurants. It was one of the first post-war suburban mall-type shopping centers in the United States.
SOOOO many awesome neighborhoods in North Seattle: Maple Leaf, Roosevelt, View Ridge, Sand Point, Bryant, University District–most of these are to the East of I-5. To the West of I-5 would be Phinney Ridge, Greenlake, Fremont, Wallingford, Ballard, Crown Hill, & Blue Ridge. This is just to name a few! Each of these areas enjoys little pockets of cafe’s, pubs, and restaurants. Seattle is known for all of its diverse neighborhoods–and North Seattle does not disappoint! North Seattle is fairly easy to navigate, and there is more parking available. For residents that want to get downtown for events, its easy to park at the Northgate Station and take the Light Rail downtown, OR even to Seatac Airport. The Light Rail has been decades in the making, and the benefits are already being felt. It *is* making the north end more competitive for house hunters, so be prepared to be tenacious and have a good real estate agent!
Golden Gardens is THE spot to enjoy the sun and salt water beaches of the Puget Sound! The sandy beach is the perfect destination for a picnic, or fun day with friends. After you’ve played beach volleyball, head over to Ballard to one of the many pubs and eateries.
For our furry friends, Magnuson Dog Park is probably the top destination. Water loving dogs will enjoy the fresh water Lake Washington, and there are plenty of open areas to really throw that ball! On sunny weekend, its quite busy, but its easy to get to, with plenty of parking. A great destination for a quick break!
